When working at a Desk
Sit with your feet flat on the floor, you may need something to lower the height of your chair or place a small flat support under your feet to ensure the height of your desk enables you to place your feet flat comfortably. You should try to sit spaced hip-width apart and try not to slump. This may help to support your circulation as opposed to cross legged which may stop the blood flowing efficiently to your pelvis. Remember to get up and walk around regularly, forgetting to do so can cause strain to your body, mainly your neck, shoulders and back.
Work Ergonically
Make sure the screen you are working at is at eye-level. Your eyes should look slightly downward when viewing the middle of the screen. Position the monitor at least 20 inches from your eyes – this is about an arms length and distance.
Work by a Window
Not always possible but when your eyes are tired from staring at your screen you can refocus and look at something in the distance. Nature is best, so if you can have a plants/greenery or flowers nearby this helps you to relax.
Take a Break
If the sun is shining, pop outside to boost your vitamin D and help support your natural immunity. If you are unable to go outside, during a break grab a drink and sit and look outside a window this will support your health and wellbeing.
Wear Comfortable Clothes
Reduce the risk of restricting blood flow around your pelvis when sat down for long periods.
