What is Reiki?

Reiki means “Universal Life Force Energy” and can be referred to as Chi. Chi is the energy current that runs through our bodies, providing us with circulation, nutrients, and minerals that we need to be whole.

Simply put Reiki ie. ‘Rei’ means ‘universal’ and ‘Ki’ is energy.

Reiki is a healing and relaxation technique to balance and recharge the energy where it is needed most. Reiki is never invasive and you are fully clothed except for shoes and jewellery during the session and only light touch is applied if you are in person. (Distant Reiki is also available as an alternative).

Energy flows through all living things and experience confirms that when perhaps you are physically low or emotionally low, the energies within the body gets out of balance. When our energy flows freely, we are more likely to feel alive, energetic, vibrant, relaxed, healthy and happy.

Reiki is powerful, yet wonderfully gentle and nurturing. Reiki is NOT a religious cult, psychic surgery, imagination, psychotherapy, medical technique, diagnosis method, form of mind control, massage technique or shamanism.

Reiki helps to restore and balance you physically, emotionally and spiritually. Reiki supports and nurtures your whole being enabling you to step back into being you!

It can bring you a sense of calm and clarity perhaps when we are having a difficult time, challenged by illness or change in our lives. By providing more flow of energy to blocked areas and charging them with positive energy, it can clear the energy paths in our bodies and accelerate recovery.

After decades of often disputed validity, the effectiveness of Reiki, as a holistic energy treatment has gained respect within medical communities.

Reiki Benefits:

  • Relieves pain – especially joint pain, injury and inflammatory conditions
  • Strengthens the immune system and can help blood pressure
  • Balances the organs and their bodily functions
  • Accelerates healing time and balances the energies in the body
  • Reiki can help us cope emotionally by encouraging calm and relaxation
  • Reiki reduces stress, provides comfort and peace, provides you with inner harmony and balance
  • Complementary to medical treatment and is a natural remedy
  • Reiki can enhance everyday living, and regular sessions may help to promote a healthier state of being
  • Increases a sense of well-being
  • Helps support a peaceful, positive, and mindful outlook life
  • Reduced tension, stress, and anxiety
  • Can provide comfort during bereavement and turmoil

Not only is Reiki highly reputable but medical facilities are offering patients healing programs and are analyzing the benefits. The results of these Reiki research studies are nothing short of remarkable.

Massage and your Immune System

The benefits of massage are vast, it is well known that it can benefit your mental and physical well-being. Massage is great at boosting our immunity because it can reduce depression, anxiety, stress, ease inflammation, muscle tensions and much more.

With a high level of stress, you are more likely to suffer from illness and injury because your body is not working efficiently, over time this reduces your level of immunity. When you are “feeling run down” or overworked, it is well known you are more likely to feel ill, catch a cold or the flu.

Just like a car running out of fuel and working on empty, soon enough the car will stop and it can’t move any longer…… and it won’t go very far. (NB. the recent petrol “shortage” crisis may spring to mind).

A high level of stress is likely to result in an elevated heart rate and cause the stress hormone cortisol which could in turn raise your blood pressure, cause heart disease, digestive problems, sleep disturbances and then there may be headaches, memory and concentration issues too.

So it makes perfect sense to reduce our stress levels as much as we can wherever possible and thus boost our immune system. We can do this in a number of ways, firstly making healthy choices, flush the body of toxins and increase our blood and oxygen flow.

Having a massage will relax you mentally and physically, it also increases the activity of white blood cells (these help our body fight diseases) and reduces cortisol. There is no doubt, our immune system is complex, and it’s not a simple case of increasing white blood cells to improve your health. But many scientific studies have shown, a massage will promote growth and repair on a cellular level and without doubt will help with so many health conditions.

A regular massage in combination with other complimentary and healthy lifestyle choices will benefit your mind, body and soul. The massage will lower your stress levels and boost your immune system. It will help to halt the stress and taking this time out will enable your body and mind to heal.

Give yourself that time, you deserve it! Your body is a reflection of your lifestyle, so take care of it and you will stave off ill health. Do those things you enjoy, like getting a massage, cooking and eating healthily, reading, gardening, relaxation breathing, sleep, exercising regularly and getting some downtime. All these things are incredibly beneficial to keep your body and mind in longer lasting good condition. Keeping yourself fuelled with the right ingredients leads to a happier and healthier life.

Mentally Tired?

Raise your hand if you agree that a head massage is one of the best things you enjoy when you go for a haircut. Who doesn’t love the washing and scalp massage part where you long for it to last and can just nod off?

A Head Massage is truly the treatment that you need in your life and here is why. A full 60 minutes dedicated to releasing all the tension in your head will clear your mind and truly lead to you nodding off 😊

Getting a healthy scalp and a beautiful head of hair can be achieved with a regular head massage. It stimulates the skin cells bringing all oxygen and nutrients to the surface, it relaxes your mind and therefore your nervous system too, promoting a sounder sleep and helps to reduce mental fatigue.

If you get migraine headaches, it is likely the tension has built up in your neck, head, shoulders and upper back. All the tension held in these areas and including your face are all released giving you increased blood flow, lowering stress hormones and normalizes your blood pressure. The body’s response to touch near the head is more complex than you’d think, the head is surrounded with tiny small muscles and as this is closest to the brain the benefits of a head massage are just incredible.

Stress is such a major problem these days and all this can lead to other health issues like digestive issues, insomnia, headaches, fatigue etc. When you are mentally tired it is easy to go for all the food and drinks that we over indulge.

An unhealthy diet, poor circulation and pollution can wreak havoc on your hair so a head massage will better the absorption of nutrients to the roots and improve hair growth. In turn conditions like dryness or dandruff can be addressed and who doesn’t long for shiny locks? Many of my clients say a head massage is their favourite treatment and sometimes feel like they are floating to cloud 9. When did you last feel like that? With the nights drawing in, this may be just the uplift you need!

Natural Face Lift Massage

Did you know that you could have a face lift that does not require any needles, surgery or machines? All the tension, saggy and tired appearance of your complexion can be addressed with a natural face lift massage. The results can be seen in some of the before and after photos of my facial clients, so when you want to look your best this is ideal for you.

You may already know about the effects of a full body massage but what about a facial massage? Just like regular exercise that keeps your body muscles toned and supple, it is only natural that this would ring true for the facial muscles too.

Facial massage is the most natural way to lift, tone and sculpt the muscle tissues of the face and neck. The signs of aging and particularly of the décolleté will appear diminished and can be seen here.

Your face is the most exposed to the environment and outdoor elements, over time this can cause wrinkles and poor circulation. Puffy eyes, fine lines, frown lines, a dull complexion, headaches and migraine can all be signs that you are holding tension in your face. A facial massage is a bit like a regular fitness regime to stimulate the collagen and regeneration of skin cells. By encouraging oxygen and nutrients to your face will give an enormous improvement to your skin tone, elasticity, texture, quality and complexion.

No needles, no machines, no electric appliances pulsing over your face and all non-invasive, you can experience a level of deep relaxation like never before with a unique finger-tip massage. Improving the quality of your sleep, boosting your immune system, raising your endorphin levels, relaxing your whole body and improving concentration and energy levels, you get all the benefits just like any other holistic massage. Not only will this massage relax you, it gives you a boost to your health and wellbeing.

The results can last anything up to a couple of weeks depending upon the current condition of your skin, age, skincare and skincare goals will determine how often a regular facial massage will uniquely benefit you.

Many clients like to add a facial to reinforce the benefits of the natural face lift massage, so you can look to the Sensory or Revival Facial, Age-Defying Facial and the Head to Heaven Facial. More details here
